Installing and Upgrading Logpoint Agent (Centralized)

Prerequisites

  • Logpoint 7.5.0 and later

  • 64-bit Windows

Required Ports

The required ports for Logpoint Agent for Windows and their respective functions are:

TCP management port used for cleartext communication between Logpoint and Windows and for Windows to listen to management requests from Logpoint. It must be opened.

Port 7995 (on Windows)

TLS management port used for encrypted communication between Logpoint and Windows. It must be opened.

Port 7996 (on Logpoint)

TCP port used while sending batch log files from Windows to Logpoint.

Port 7997 (on Logpoint)

TLS port used while sending batch log files from Windows to Logpoint.

Port 7998 (on Logpoint)

TCP port used while sending logs from Windows to Logpoint.

Port 7999 (on Logpoint)

TLS port used while sending logs from Windows to Logpoint.

Installing Logpoint Agent (Centralized)

Logpoint Agent (Centralized) is bundled with Logpoint Agent for Windows .msi file and Logpoint Agent Collector .pak files. You must install the .msi file in Windows and the .pak file in Logpoint. Logpoint Agent for Windows collects logs from Windows and sends them to Logpoint for monitoring and analysis via Logpoint Agent (Centralized).

Installing Logpoint Agent in Windows

  1. Browse to the downloaded Logpoint Agent for Windows .msi file.

  2. Right click the .msi file and click Install.

After installing the msi, Logpoint Agent (Centralized) creates a new folder named lpagent in C:\Program Files (x86).

Installing Logpoint Agent (Centralized) in Logpoint

  1. Download the .pak file from the Release Notes.

  2. Go to Settings >> System Settings from the navigation bar and click Applications.

  3. Click Import.

  4. Browse to the downloaded Logpoint Agent (Centralized) pak file.

  5. Click Upload.

After installing Logpoint Agent (Centralized), you can find it under Settings >> System Settings >> Plugins.

Important

To upgrade Logpoint Agent in Logpoint, you must install the latest version of Logpoint Agent (Centralized). After the upgrade, you must remove old Certificates and generate new ones.

Uninstalling Logpoint Agent (Centralized)

To unstall Logpoint Agent (Centralized), you must delete Logpoint Agent from Windows and Logpoint Agent Device from Logpoint Agent Powered by Nxlog. You must also delete Logpoint Agent (Centralized) configuration.

Deleting Logpoint Agent Device from Logpoint Agent Powered by Nxlog

  1. Go to Settings >> Configuration from the navigation bar and click Devices.

  2. Click the Add Collectors/Fetchers (add) icon from Actions of the device.

  3. Click Logpoint Agent Powered by NxLog and click Delete.

  4. Click the Delete (delete) icon from Actions of the device.

  5. Click Yes.

Deleting Logpoint Agent from Windows

  1. Go to Windows and right-click the Logpoint Agent for Windows Installer package file.

  2. Click Uninstall and click Run.

Deleting Logpoint Agent (Centralized) Configuration

  1. Go to Settings >> System Settings from the navigation bar and click Plugins.

  2. Find Logpoint Agent Powered by NxLog and click Manage.

  3. Select Global Settings and disable Enable Batching and Enable Buffering.

  4. Click Submit.

  5. Select Templates and click the Delete (delete) icon from Actions of the created template.

Uninstalling from Logpoint

  1. Go to Settings >> System Settings from the navigation bar and click Applications.

  2. Click the Uninstall (uninstall) icon from Actions of Logpoint Agent (Centralized).
